Questions

What fees does the calculator include?

For US imports: the MFN (Column 1 General) rate, any applicable Section 301/232/IEEPA additional duties, Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF), and Harbor Maintenance Fee (HMF) for ocean shipments. For EU imports: the third-country duty and any applicable anti-dumping or countervailing duties.

Can I calculate duty for EU imports?

Yes. Toggle to European Union, enter a CN or TARIC code, select the origin country, and enter the declared value in EUR. The calculator applies third-country duty rates and any preferential rates or trade measures for the origin.

How accurate is the estimate?

The calculator uses the same rates published in the USITC HTS and TARIC databases. Results are estimates, not binding assessments. Final duty depends on how CBP or EU customs classifies and values your goods at entry.

Does it handle specific (per-unit) duties?

Yes. If the tariff code has a per-unit component (e.g. cents per kilogram), the calculator prompts for quantity and unit. It combines ad valorem and specific components into one total.

Can I save or export a calculation?

Yes. Every calculation can be exported as a PDF with the full line-item breakdown, or saved to a project for future reference. Saved calculations include the rate snapshot date.

What's the difference between this and the AI classifier?

The classifier takes a product description and suggests the correct tariff code. The calculator takes a known tariff code and computes the total duty. Use them together: classify first, then calculate.
