Antidumping Duty

An additional duty imposed on imports sold below fair market value to protect domestic industry.

An antidumping (AD) duty is an additional tariff imposed when a foreign producer sells goods in the US or EU at a price below their normal value (typically the home market price). The duty is calculated to offset the dumping margin. AD duties are product-specific and country-specific, meaning they apply only to the specific goods from the specific country found to be dumping. In the US, AD investigations are conducted by the Department of Commerce and the International Trade Commission. AD duties can range from a few percent to over 200%.
