General Rate of Duty
The standard duty rate in Column 1 of the US Harmonized Tariff Schedule, equivalent to the MFN rate.
The General Rate of Duty is the rate listed in Column 1, General of the US Harmonized Tariff Schedule. It applies to imports from countries with Normal Trade Relations (NTR) status, which includes all WTO members. This is effectively the MFN rate. Column 1, Special lists reduced rates for goods qualifying under free trade agreements. Column 2 lists higher rates for countries without NTR status (currently Cuba and North Korea).
