Combined Nomenclature

The EU's 8-digit goods classification system, based on the HS with EU-specific subdivisions.

The Combined Nomenclature (CN) is the EU's classification system for traded goods. It extends the 6-digit international HS code with two additional digits for EU-specific subdivisions, creating 8-digit CN codes. TARIC adds two more digits (9-10) for even finer subdivisions. The CN is updated annually by the European Commission and published in the Official Journal. It determines both duty rates and trade statistics classifications.
